Job Summary:
The Solar Energy Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solar energy systems and solutions. This role requires expertise in civil engineering principles and the ability to design and optimize solar energy projects. The Solar Energy Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of solar energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct site visits and evaluations to assess solar energy potential, including analyzing solar irradiance, shading analysis, and electrical load requirements.
2. Design and develop solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) arrays, solar thermal systems, and associated electrical and mechanical components.
3. Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations to optimize solar energy system designs, considering factors such as panel tilt, orientation, and system sizing.
4. Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and project plans for solar energy systems, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and building codes.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solar energy systems into new and existing construction projects, ensuring seamless coordination with architectural, electrical, and mechanical components.
6. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to determine the viability and financial feasibility of solar energy projects.
7. Stay up to date with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in solar energy engineering, and apply this knowledge to continuously improve system designs and performance.
8. Provide technical support and guidance to project teams during the construction, installation, and commissioning of solar energy systems.
9. Conduct performance monitoring and analysis of installed solar energy systems, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
10. Collaborate with regulatory authorities and utility companies to ensure compliance with local regulations, interconnection requirements, and net metering policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience in designing and implementing solar energy systems, preferably in the civil engineering field.
3. Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, particularly related to structural analysis and design.
4. Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for solar energy system design, such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or equivalent.
5. Familiarity with electrical and mechanical engineering concepts and their application to solar energy projects.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
8. In-depth understanding of local regulations, codes, and standards related to solar energy systems.
9. Demonstrated ability to conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
10. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings, specifications, and project plans.
Note: The Solar Energy Engineer may be required to travel to project sites occasionally and work in outdoor environments.
